Holden Insurance or read the fine print

Insurance can be a tricky business so it's vital that you have the right cover for your car.

Holden Insurance has been designed specifically with you and your car in mind to make sure you don't have any further stress after an accident.

As your car will be repaired be one of our certified repairers, you know that it will be returned to the condition it was before your accident and the whole process will be a smooth and efficient one.

But even if you don’t have Holden insurance, it pays to read the fine print of your own policy.

Some insurers are keen to get your car repaired as cheaply as possible, meaning that the quality of repairs might not be up to our standards or use Holden Genuine Parts, all of which can affect the integrity, safety and resale value of your car.

So it pays to check that you can:

Choose your own repairer - and make sure it's a genuine option where your car can be repaired, not just for a quote to throw into the mix.
The repairs will be guaranteed for life - regardless of whether you own the car or sell it to someone else.
The repairer will use only Genuine Holden Parts - not recycled, copy or second-hand parts.

If your insurance doesn't allow all of these factors, maybe it's time to switch to Holden Insurance for your own peace of mind and safety.

Some steps to follow in the event of an accident

If you are involved in an accident, your safety and the safety of those involved should be your first priority, so here’s what to do…

Step 1
  • Stay calm, stop the car immediately, switch off the ignition and turn on your hazard lights.
Step 2
  • If anyone is injured, get to a safe place, dial 000 for emergency services and provide whatever first aid assistance you can.
Step 3
  • If no one is injured but the collision is causing traffic problems, you suspect drugs or alcohol might be involved or the other driver will not provide their contact details, you must still dial 000 to report the accident to police.
Step 4
  • Exchange details with the other driver. Legally, as a minimum you need to get the registration number of their car, driver’s name and address, and the owner’s name and address.
Step 5
  • Finally, if you need any more advice, please contact your local insurer.
