$${privateData.videoFrame}$$

Inspired by the power of local communities, Holden started the Home Ground Advantage grants program - to help clubs improve facilities, purchase equipment and even develop exceptional talent.

THE GRANTS

$250,000 in grants available

During both the summer and winter rounds, we will award a total of $250,000 in grants. Sporting clubs can request any amount up to the full $250,000, but it would have to be a super-exceptional project for us to award all the funds to a single club.

The power of possibilities

"Being hit by a baseball can really hurt. Our new batting shells and nets are so important as it keeps our players, coaches and anyone surrounding the ground as safe as possible."

Frequently asked questions

How do I apply?

To apply, visit the website using a desktop or laptop computer (you can’t apply on your mobile or tablet device). Click the 'Apply now' button.
The application form can only be accessed while entries for that round are open.
Summer 2016/17 opens on opens on 2nd November, 2016.

What grants will be available for clubs through Home Ground Advantage?

You can apply for any amount up to the full $250,000 - but it would have to be an exceptional project for us to award all the funds to a single club. Keep in mind, the average value awarded so far is $12,500.

We want the grants to have the biggest impact they can.

Who can apply?

Any sporting club or community organisation which runs and supports sporting activities within Australia.

What types of projects will be funded?

Home Ground Advantage grant applications will be considered for the below:

1. Tangible projects – including upgrading, constructing or improving facilities, upgrading or purchasing equipment, and buying uniforms and other assets
2. Developing exceptional talent – including special coaching or funding for trips to compete or gain experience

Can I submit more than one application for my club?

Yes. You might want to apply for a big project, as well as a smaller project, and submit an application for each.

How will the application be assessed?

All applications are individually assessed by the Holden Home Ground Advantage team based on its merit relative to the other applications in that particular round.

Consideration will include, but not limited to, the following:

1. Eligibility of the submission – does it comply with the terms and conditions?
2. The role the club plays in the local community.
3. The impact the grant will have on the club, the community or talented individuals.
4. Long-term benefits to the club.
5. The club's story.

A shortlist is prepared and often further research is conducted, including a call to your club requesting additional information. Please note that being contacted does not necessarily mean you have been successful.

What will not be funded?

The following items will not be funded:

1. Recurring operational expenses.
2. The repayment of debt.
3. Projects that have already been completed.

What browser can I use?

We recommend you use the current version of browsers to make sure our web pages display quickly, and that you have the latest security updates. If you use older browsers, you might notice some functions and features may not work perfectly when visiting the Holden website.

We recommend the following browsers – each has a link to download them if you need.

The application form does not support Internet Explorer 9 (and earlier) for Windows or applications on tablet or mobile devices. So you can't apply on your phone or tablet.

What are the summer 2016/17 application timelines?

The summer 2016/17 round opens on 2 November 2016 and closes at 5pm (AEDT) on 31st March 2017. Clubs will be notified of their application outcome early May 2017.

Can the Home Ground Advantage Team help me complete my application?

No. The Home Ground Advantage team are not able to help clubs fill out applications because that would give clubs the wrong kind of advantage.

If my application is not successful, can I apply again?

Yes. We encourage you to apply again as each round is very different and assessed independently of previous rounds. So not being successful in one round doesn’t impact your chances of success in future rounds.

What about GST?

Home Ground Advantage grants are exclusive of GST. Where the grant recipient is registered for GST, Holden will pay the grant and the applicable GST. Where the grant recipient is not registered for GST, the GST amount will not be added to the grant. See the terms and conditions for more information.

What are the terms and conditions?

Wistow Cricket Club, SA

Summer 2015/16

In the Adelaide Hills, Wistow Cricket Club has been running for over 100 years. Despite hosting generations of local families they still had no permanent facilities. They have used the grant to build a club house that will be a first in their long history.

Tilligerry & Districts Little Athletics Centre, NSW

Winter 2015

Parents and volunteers at the Tilligerry Little Athletics Centre had to wash down equipment before every session due to the infestation of vermin in their crumbling storage container. Since upgrading their facilities with their Home Ground Advantage grant, they are now proudly hosting their first carnival in 20 years.

Maryborough Bears AFC Club, QLD

Maryborough Bears AFC Club, QLD

Summer 2014/15

As the only league in Queensland without a girls’ competition, the Bears were keen to foster the enthusiasm of local girls who wanted to play football. They just didn’t have any female change rooms or amenities, which has now all changed thanks to the grant.
