Inspired by the power of possibilities for local communities, Holden launched the Home Ground Advantage grants program. It exists to help clubs improve their facilities, purchase new equipment and uniforms.
The Maryborough Bears was one of our first major recipients. Wanting to foster girls' footy, they were hampered by a lack of female change room and facilities. But not any more! Watch the video and see how the $100,000 grant has transformed the Club.
Applications for the Winter '16 Round are open until August 31st, 2016 so click the Apply Now button for details, including how to apply.
In 2014 Holden announced it would commit $5 million to support local sporting clubs across Australia as part of its Holden Home Ground Advantage community grants program.
The yearly grants program is split into two rounds: winter and summer, with $250,000 in grants available in each. In each round, one project will be awarded a grant of up to $100,000 and additional funds available to smaller worthy grants.
Local sporting clubs are an integral part of the Australian way of life, much like Holden. That's why we've made a long term commitment to helping grass roots sport by giving local clubs the chance to upgrade their facilities with the Holden Home Ground Advantage program.
Home Ground Advantage, is a program that provides local sporting clubs with the chance to invest in clubrooms, sporting grounds, equipment or general facilities so they can also continue to be a part of the Australian way of life.
It's a way for Holden to give back to Australian communities.
You can apply for a grant for a project of $100,000 in value, or a grant for a project up to $100,000 in value. Clubs are welcome to submit separate applications for both grants. Please note that only one grant from the $100,000 grant pool will be awarded. The number of successful applications from the ‘up to $100,000’ grant pool will depend on the amounts requested. All of the $250,000 available in this round will be allocated.
You can apply for money through Home Ground Advantage for projects, or equipment, that make life easier for the members and supporters of your club. For example, you might want to make improvements to your clubrooms, install new hot showers, get a new scoreboard, or purchase new sporting equipment that will help your team perform on the field.
Home Ground Advantage grants are exclusive of GST. Where the grant recipient is registered for GST, Holden will pay the grant and the applicable GST amount. Where the grant recipient is not registered for GST, the GST amount will not be added to the grant. See the Terms and Conditions for more information.
To make your online submission experience better, please read all of this information before beginning the application form. If you have any other questions or if you encounter technical difficulties that aren't answered here, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
Home Ground Advantage is about supporting clubs who need help - so we are not looking for professional videos (and the video part of the application process is optional).
But if you are able to, we would love to see your submission include a video that not only demonstrates why you need the funds but also the spirit and culture of your club. Or what it is that makes your club special and deserving of a grant.
One of the things that makes Australian sporting clubs so unique is the characters, and the sense of humour of the personalities, within them. So if you can share some of that with us that would be great.
Remember, your video does not have to be high quality. It could be filmed on a smart phone. To share it with us all you need to do is upload it to YouTube and paste the link in your application – for more information, see 'things you need to know about video submissions' on the application form.
All applications will be reviewed by the Holden Home Ground Advantage Team. The Team will also ensure that eligibility has been met in accordance with the Terms and Conditions. Consideration will include, but not limited to, the following:
The role the club plays in the local community;
Positive flow on the proposed project to the broader local community;
Define what you are specifically applying for. Be specific about your request -
please try and be exact about what it is you're asking for
Print off the blank application form so you know what information to gather.
Because you must complete the online application form in one sitting, it is strongly recommended to prepare your application by completing the blank Word Document application form first. This will make your online application process quicker and easier! Alternatively, you can print off a PDF copy here for review.
Be succinct in your application responses, bullet points are fine!
Decide if you will need a video and/or photos
These are not essential but help us get to know your club and what you need
Read instructions on how to upload a video to YouTube as you'll need the link for your application. If you don't have a YouTube account, you will need to make one before you complete your application form.
Photos can be uploaded directly into the form
Please make sure you have all the required elements before beginning as you can't make any changes or additions once your application has been submitted.
A copy of your application will be emailed to you shortly after you submit.
The best way to fill out your application is to simply tell us about your club and the project in the clearest and simplest way you can. The HGA team are not able to help clubs fill out applications because that would give some clubs an advantage.
