1.4L iTi Turbo Petrol
The advanced 1.4 litre DOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder iTi turbo petrol engine takes efficient driving another step forward. The intelligent turbo induction (iTi) system uses an exhaust manifold integrated turbo charger to provide superior performance with an enviable fuel economy of 6.8L/100km^. This combination of high tech efficiency and performance is optional on the Equipe Sedan and Hatch.

1.6L iTi Turbo Petrol
Standard on the SRi and SRi-V, the 1.6 litre iTi turbo petrol engine delivers more responsive performance and surprising efficiency like never before. It is truly exciting to drive with 132kW of power and 230Nm of torque. Choose the manual transmission for a combined highway and city fuel economy of 7.4L/100km^. Go with the automatic for more responsive acceleration and a combined cycle of 7.9L/100km^.

1.8L Petrol
The 1.8 litre DOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder ECOTEC petrol engine is standard on CD, Equipe and CDX models. This advanced petrol engine produces spirited performance from low revs to high.
2.0L Diesel
The 2.0L DOHC 16 valve 4-cylinder common rail turbo diesel engine with an automatic transmission is optional on Equipe, CD and CDX Sedan. Its improved performance as well as improved fuel economy delivers a powerful, fuel-efficient diesel offering.

5-Speed or 6-Speed Manual Transmission*
Designed with a super smooth short throw for more spirited driving, these manual transmissions have the ideal first gear launch feel and lower cruising revs in the higher gears. Complementing the 1.8L petrol engine on the Cruze Equipe is a smooth shifting 5-speed manual transmission. To enhance the sporty characteristics of the 1.6L iTi turbo petrol engine, it has been mated to a sporty 6-speed manual transmission available on SRi and SRi-V. These transmission feature:
- A one-piece housing that enables a compact, light design.
- Needle bearings for all gears to ensure low-friction gear meshing for better shiftability.
- Enhanced low-gear engagement for smooth and easy launch and shift characteristics.
6-Speed Automatic Transmission
The smooth 6-speed transmission with active select maintains optimum engine economy across a wide range of driving conditions:
- All models feature a "tap-up/tap-down" active select feature allowing you to select and hold your gears in order to experience a more spirited drive.
- Clutch-to-clutch shift operation for added precision and smoother shifts between gears.
- A wide spread ratio. First gear has brisk acceleration with its high ratio. Sixth gear overdrive ratio keeps the engine revolutions as low as possible for highway cruising and improved fuel economy.
- Sports mode is enabled on 1.6L iTi turbo petrol engine. Sports mode improves acceleration response by either holding the current gear or down-shifting the transmission whilst braking to provide the correct gear before the driver requests acceleration
