The Tyre Sealant and Air Compressor Kit is a light-weight and easy to use alternative to a spare wheel which is ideal for repairing tyre tread area puncture damage up to 6mm, without having to carry a heavy spare wheel. Another advantage includes the added personal safety of not having to remove and replace a deflated wheel roadside.
The emergency tyre sealant (a chemical solution that seals tyre punctures) and air compressor kit will replace the jack, tools and spare wheel. It is located in a foam container in the boot/cargo area of the vehicle.
The tyre sealant and air compressor kit can be used to temporarily repair a punctured tyre by sealing small holes in the tread of the tyre. It can also be used to inflate an under-inflated tyre.
Once the damaged tyre is sealed and inflated to the recommended pressure, the vehicle must be driven for 8 kilometres to ensure the sealant is distributed evenly. After 8 kilometers the tyre pressure should be retested to ensure the puncture has been sealed correctly.
The Tyre Sealant and Air Compressor Kit repairs punctures up to 6mm (1/4 inch) in diameter in the tread area of the tyre. It does not repair tyre blowouts, sidewall damage or a tyre that has unseated from the wheel rim, in which case a replacement tyre is required.
