Global Purchasing Process
Global Purchasing & Supply Chain's decision making process is truly a global initiative. Every week, Global Purchasing & Supply Chain leaders globally review and recommend sourcing decisions, set strategies, and analyse results. Holden sources in excess of AUS$3 billion worth of goods and services annually.
There are two main entry points into the Holden procurement process:
Advance Purchasing- Applies to modules and systems not yet introduced on Holden vehicles
- Operates by utilising specifications from Engineering when executing a sourcing
- Process to determine appropriate suppliers evaluation of multiple alternative materials, processes, technologies, and design proposals prior to Holden locking into a specific design.
The process allows Holden to look at the entire corporate product portfolio on a worldwide basis to find opportunities for communisation, cost savings, mass reduction, quality improvements and the introduction of advanced technologies.
Global Sourcing is the process used to work with existing suppliers to assure that their products are benchmarked to world class standards for Quality, Service, Technology and Price.
